The Shutt Detachment's annual Marine Corps Birthday tickets are on sale. Each ticket, there are only 100, costs $100.00 and results in the chance to win $5,000.00 the day of the birthday on 11/10/08. Contact Shutt Charter member Paul O'Reilly to purchase yours.

A supplemental meeting of officers and appointed positions for the Shutt Detachment has been called for Thursday, January 29, 2009 for 18:00. This meeting is to continue discussions for the 2009 special events and status reports from previous committees -- extra time will be allotted to the 2009 Shutt Anniversary. All regular members are welcome and encouraged to attend.

- When: Wednesday, Nov. 18th, 7-9PM, Who: All Massachusetts OEF/OIF Veterans and Veterans of all Eras to get Information Regarding the “Jobs for Vets” Program and training for skills for today's job markets

- December's first Thursday monthly meeting for Marines and associates will be held at 19:00 on 12/3/09 at the the Pvt Shutt Detachment. Detachment Commandant Ricci has announced that this will also be a can drive and all attending members are to have 5 non perishable food items for the food drive for veterans. Failing to assist in this drive will result of a fine of $5.00 (to be donated to the food drive) consider it a "door charge". read the full topic for a full list of items needed.

The Massachusetts Bay Division of the Sea Cadets will be hosting their 2nd Annual Parents & Friends Fundraiser at the Pvt Charles J Shutt Detachment. Start time is 7 pm and it's $10 per person, $15 per couple. Free Finger food for participants. Drop by and say hello, or better yet bring a few friends and pull up a seat.

- Time 18:00 - Longtime members of the Pvt Charles J Shutt Detachment will meet with Detachment officers to assist in the assembly of a history time line for the Detachment. Members with a history to the 70's and before are encouraged to participate in the gathering of knowledge.

Pics from the 2008 Golf Tournament, Open House and the Marine Corp Birthday have been placed into the "Photos" section. Any other photos from 2008 Shutt events are welcomed for consideration.

- The Dept of MA, Marine Corps League has placed online the agenda / schedule for the upcoming Convention being help in Hyannis, this coming June 4th to June 7th 2009.

- Members of the Pvt. Charles J. Shutt, Marine Corps League Detachment will join together in camaraderie and fellowship to preserve the traditions of the USMC (United States Marine Corps) in the Ceremonial Marine Corps Birthday Ball on 11/10/09. A strong tradition with the Marines and even stronger today in 2009, the Birthday Ball is open to all Marines and Marine Veterans in the Boston and surrounding communities ....... see the menu and times for details.
