Lenny O'Brien (1928 - 2010), Shutt Detachment VAVS Representative

For decades Lenny O'Brien had served as a tireless supporter of the Veteran Community. Winner of countless awards from the Veterans Administration for his thousands of volunteer hours with the Veteran Administration Voluntary Services (VAVS), he has now gone to meet those that he worked so hard to have a meaningful civilian life while on this earth.

Battling the demons that Veterans have imposed on them due to reasons of substance abuse, homelessness, cancer and PTSD - Lenny never let a brother or sister Veteran in any physical condition go without providing the creature comforts that every human has the right to. Often by taking money out of his pocket during his many fundraising efforts to bringing basic necessities to those Veterans left without financial support.

He will be greatly missed by his loving family, by The Pvt. Charles J Shutt Detachment, Marine Corps League and by the hundreds upon hundreds of Veterans that Lenny had a great part of making their times of despair, bearable, on their road of recovery and return to civilian life.

Rest in Peace Lenny O'Brien, your mission on this earth has been completed.
